Baby Shower #2

Oh how I wish I had gotten more pictures!!!! This is a sweet baby shower that my girlfriends gave me. Just precious.  I love these ladies.

The ladies from our old Church were so kind to also throw me a baby shower. I have no clue where the pictures from this shower are???? Maybe I will come across them on my desktop one of these days.  Both showers were lovely and greatly appreciate. I had just sold all baby items in a yard sale to find out 1 month later that I was pregnant...goodness.

Jack is showing his buddy, Harlan, his serious Spiderman moves. Adorable.
I am not a huge fan of the costumes my children choose every year.  They love the costumes in a bag we can purchase at our local Wal-Mart.  What happened to an appreciation for a good 'ol homemade costume? I try convincing them every year to let me make something for them but the appeal of bagged costumes win every time.

Daddy Turned 50

I love the thumbs up while getting a kiss from his pretty grandma.

and so for his 50th Birthday we gave him a canvas that had sweet comments and memories from all his loved ones printed on it. It was cool hearing all the things people had to say about Dad.  He IS a pretty cool fella. One of my fondest memories was him reprimanding me for teasing a door to door salesman. He made me stop and reflect on my behavior and consider why the man was going door to door and reminding me that I have no idea of the surrounding circumstances; how many kids does he have to feed, does he have a home, this may have been the only job he could find, how it would make him feel to hear me making fun of him, how I would feel if it were me....etc. At the time, I didn't like hearing it, but it was a monumental point in my childhood in teaching me compassion. I also remember him picking me up in a blanket and swinging me around as he carried me off to bed. Another favorite: I use to bring him blankets and ask him to make me clothes out of them.  He obliged, and had me wrapped, wadded, and tucked in so many ways that I'm sure I looked ridiculous but I felt I could walk a runway in my new designs. Thanks Daddy. I-ba lu-ba you-ba.

Christmas

Christmas was a blur. All 3 kiddos had just recovered from the flu in time for Aaron and I to be down and out with it on Christmas day. Let me tell you something - The FLU IS HORRIBLE.  We had to go out of town unexpectedly the week before Christmas and so nothing was wrapped or assembled.  We drove home 12 hours on Christmas eve (with the flu), stayed up to wrap gifts and put together toys all while feeling completely horrific. It is only by the Grace of God that we made it through.  If only our children knew what we went through.... I had imagined a time of Christmas music, hot coco, reading, a cozy home, the smell of cookies and cinnamon, smiles, laughs....completely the opposite. Completely. We said Happy Birthday Jesus and then took turns sleeping and watching children in a vegetated state.

You are growing up too fast Jack Jack. He enjoys preschool.  All the little kiddos great him when he walks in. One Mom told me that her daughter comes home talking about Jack and how nice he is to her. I appreciate it when parents tell me these things; good or bad. It's good to hear feedback because I am totally in the dark on how my children behave when I'm not around, and I'm guessing other parents are too. His teachers adore him as well and only have good things to say of his behavior.  See! Our Little Politician! Again, I wish I had gotten more pictures.

Love the bruises on this kids head!
Sweet little girl, Addie, whom has a crush on Christian.
Sweet Daddy made him his very own giant arena!

Yummy cake, compliments of Daddy. He is so stinking good at these birthday cakes! (I. AM. PREGNANT...just so you know)

Arg! Always disappointed when I look at the birthday party pictures. I think to myself - why didn't I take more pictures, and then quickly remember how busy I was. Shucks!  Our little Monkey man wanted a beyblade birthday party. I really don't understand the beyblade appeal but he LOVES them. Love this freckled face kid.

I truly do adore my children. They are all unique.

Christian: Still so responsible. You take your big brother role seriously and you aim to please your Daddy and I. We are proud of you. I pray that one day you also take your spiritual walk just as seriously. I am concerned you will struggle with feeling like your faith is dependent on your good works. You are always the one who puts your clothes in the hamper, puts the lid back on the tooth paste, cleans any spills or messes you make... You go about the house singing.  I'm convinced you could make up a song about anything. You like to kid around a lot and play tricks on your brothers. You are better at making Ben laugh than anyone else in the house. You're my thinker.  You ponder on things and take our words to heart.  You seem eager to learn about Christ and have cried to me with concern of your salvation. You truly want to know how to love God. It is so heart warming. Science seems to be your favorite subject at the moment while reading is something you despise. Some of the structures you have built whether it be from legos, blocks, k-nex, sticks, or scrap wood are amazing to me.  I believe you have an engineers mind. You seem to be drawn to babies. You think they are all cute, even the ugly ones. I think you will be an amazing father one day, and take your role as provider very seriously. I love you so much. Even as a 7 year old, you bless me daily.

Ben: Oh Ben, not sure where to start here. You are my charismatic hippie child, and just as charming as you can be. Still messy and a little gross at times. So far, you haven't grown out of your clumsiness. You have a sensitive sole and love to snuggle, hug, and kiss. People are drawn to you but you haven't seemed to notice yet. I am already taking up love notes and phone numbers that little girls have given you and having to talk to you about girls. Life doesn't get you down. I can count on you for a smile almost always although it seems like your spirit is easily broken. Your feelings are fragile and I have to remind myself to be careful. Socializing is a natural talent for you. You greet our guests and friends well and inquire about them which the receiver finds delightful. You get along very well with your little brother Jack. You have a keen sense of style and like to experiment with new outfits and hair styles.  The haircuts challenge me but you don't complain on how they turn out. Working isn't your thing. In fact, you have asked me on several occasions if I knew how to make money without doing the work. You are an amazing reader, but beg to play video games. I believe you have a natural talent for most things but haven't found your nitch yet.  I love you so much, and cherish each hug and kiss.

Jack:  "Daddy's Jack, and Momma's Baby." We have brainwashed  you to say this. Mostly it was my doing because I couldn't get you to say that you were mine, so I came up with a loophole. You adore your father more than any of your brothers ever did. So much so that I do find myself feeling a bit jealous. You have perfect manners and know exactly how to respond to appease me. We lovingly call you our Little Politician.  You keep everyone laughing and bring energy with you wherever you go. Most people are surprised by your extroverted greeting hugs. At the moment, most of your clothes are worn backwards and its hard to keep you out of your Iron man costume. You've developed a strong sense of independence. I have noticed that you share many of Christians character traits and I'm guessing that's why the two of you argue so much. You don't speak very clearly but your choice words are full of expression and emotion. It is adorable. You play very well with others and can entertain yourself without any trouble. Your eye/hand coordination is out of this world. I'm sure you will do well in athletics.  You can almost outrun your brothers and you have a certain mass to your stature that makes me think you will grow up to be a big man. Your Daddy is hoping for football. I love you dearly and enjoy your company and laughs.

Lulu comes up every year and this time she brought 2 of my cousins with her. They were all troopers. Lulu, because you hang with our craziness and happily cook for our small army while here.  I know it's exhausting, and I greatly appreciate the extra help. Jake and Reggie, because you submitted yourselves to constant questioning and wrestle provoking by 3 little boys, and happily attended a toddlers birthday party. It was nice to spend time with the two of you and get to know you better. You fit right in with us and I hope you can come again for the next trip.

I do love our Annual Blueberry Festival.  What a pretty day to pick fresh fruit and sample while picking.
